Erica Grant, LCSW

Originally from the East Coast, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia many years ago to pursue my education. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia. I received my Bachelors Degree from Morris Brown College (Atlanta, GA) and Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University (New York, NY). I have worked in forensic social work, hospital and school settings, as well as a variety of community-based mental health agencies. My practice includes individual, family and couples counseling. For over a decade, I have had the honor of working alongside thousands of unique individuals from all walks of life.

This is a part of me, but these labels don’t define me. I’m a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a professional, an advocate and a motivator. I’m also human…and being human has allowed me the opportunity to have plenty of my own life experiences, work through my own life struggles, learn to accept myself and the things in my life I was resistant to. I’ve learned to accept myself, I truly like the person I call “me” and I choose to really live and show up, each and every day.

Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is to empower and provide therapeutic support to strengthen individuals to live a healthy and purposeful life. My approach will help you look at your own thoughts, feelings and actions in order to discover more effective ways to meet your needs and create a more satisfying life for yourself.

My style of practice is direct, interactive and compassionate. I feel privileged and honored to help others reach their full potential as I join their journey of healing and transformation. I focus on skill building and enhancing your strengths while creating a safe space for you to be open and honest.

My work is centered around helping clients find self-acceptance, joy, peace, and fulfillment while navigating the ups and downs of life with helpful skills, insight, support, and accountability.

Areas of Expertise

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I am trained evidence based alternatives such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

I am extensively trained in Trauma, Anxiety Disorders, Stress Management and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. This means I have advanced training in working with individuals who have experienced traumatic or disturbing life events as well as those struggling to manage everyday stress. I particularly enjoy in working with mothers in the pregnant and postpartum phase who need help regulating their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or those who have experienced birth trauma.

I work to stay informed on current holistic treatment alternatives as they relate to the body and mind connection. I prefer to pursue counseling treatments that efficiently involve both the body and the brain in the healing process. I practice using a mindfulness and meditation-based interventions, which is clinically demonstrated to improve focus, self awareness, and overall brain health while decreasing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Meditation and breath work can be used to manage symptoms of trauma as they manifest in the here and now, while helping your body to release stored trauma.
